The high school curriculum besides satisfying Ferrahian graduation and UC/CSU admission requirements is enriched with Honors and college preparatory Advanced Placed (AP) courses, which improve students’ academic skills tremendously and enhance their college standing significantly.

Honors courses:

• Armenian Literature Honors (10^th Grade)*
• Armenian Literature Honors (11^th Grade)*
• Armenian Literature Honors (12^th Grade)
• English Language Honors (10th Grade English) *
• English Literature Honors (12th Grade English, 1st semester)
• World Literature Honors (12th Grade English, 2nd semester)

Honors courses are given additional weight in GPA calculations both for graduation and college admission purposes. Honor courses denoted by asterisks are not weighted by the UC system.

Advanced Placement courses:

• Biology AP      
• Calculus AP
• Chemistry AP 
• English Language and Composition AP      
• English Literature and Composition AP      
• Environmental Science AP
• U.S. History AP      
• U.S. Government AP

Advanced Placement (AP) courses provide the opportunity for students to do college-level studies while still in high school. AP students must be prepared to be involved in critical reading and writing, analysis of material, synthesis of ideas, problem solving, and other such areas.              

• Students enrolled in AP courses are required to take corresponding AP examinations administered in May.
• Placement in AP courses requires:

­Completion of the prerequisites with a grade “B” or better. 

­Recommendations of the AP instructor

­High scores in PSAT

• Students who are not recommended for AP/Honors placement, may petition for reconsideration. 
• The school offers AP courses if 10 or more students are registered in that class.
• AP courses are given honors weight in GPA calculation.
