ACADEMIC TESTING
Grades
1-8
STANFORD 9: This is a standardized test used on a broad scale nationwide. The test provides information about the relative ranking of each student in Reading, Spelling, Language Usage, Mathematics, Science and Social Science against a national sample of students from both public and private schools. Stanford 9 test is administered at Ferrahian in May to grades 1-8. Test results are sent home.
Grades 9-11
PSAT/NMSQT: Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a standardized test that provides students firsthand practice to take the SAT I Reasoning Test and the SAT II Writing Test. This practice also provides the student a chance to qualify for National Merit Scholarship Corporations (NMSC) scholarship programs.
The PSAT/NMSQT is an important tool for 9th, 10th and 11th grade students in their college planning process. It measures:
- verbal reasoning skills
- critical reading skills
- math-problem solving skills
- writing skills

College Admission Tests
Certain tests are important for the college admission process. Examples of such tests are ACT, SAT I, and SAT II.
It is recommended that students take the ACT or SAT-I for the first time in May or June of the Junior year, and SAT-II immediately after the completion of the subject course. The Counseling Office provides assistance for the registration.

College Board
Code
The College Board that administers the SAT tests and the AP exams requires including the high school code on tests, exams and applications. Our school is registered with the College Board as Holy Martyrs Armenian High School and the Code is 050869.
